Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “BROWNING MODEL 52 SPORTER .22 LONG RIFLE ONLY / MADE IN JAPAN MIROKU.” The right side of the barrel is marked “BROWNING ARMS COMPANY MORGAN, UTAH & MONTREAL P.Q.” The serial number “00040NZ496” is marked on the right side of the receiver. The included limited edition knife is marked “Browning Model 52 – 1 of 2500”.

Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The top of the receiver is mounted with factory Browning two-piece scope bases.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a checkered walnut one-piece sporter configuration with a capped semi-pistol grip, a fluted raised comb with cheek piece, a capped forend, and a Browning-branded metal buttplate. There are only minor handling marks from storage with no cracks or chips. The checkering remains crisp. The LOP measures 13 5/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows only faint signs of handling and storage, very light operational and handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The pins are clean. The markings are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is the original serial-matching factory box with foam insert, two factory Browning magazines, factory paperwork, and a Browning Model 52 limited edition folding knife marked “1 of 2500.”
Our Assessment: The Browning Model 52 Sporter is a masterfully executed modern tribute to the legendary Winchester Model 52, often referred to as the “King of .22s.” This rifle was manufactured by Miroku of Japan under Browning’s direction, combining Old World craftsmanship with modern precision. Produced in limited numbers, this model features high-grade walnut, excellent polishing, deep bluing, and the smooth bolt throw and crisp trigger that defined its namesake.
This particular example is especially desirable as it comes complete with its factory serial-matching box, two magazines, original paperwork, and a commemorative Model 52 knife marked “1 of 2500,” making it a true collector’s package. The metal and wood are in excellent shape with minimal signs of use, and the bore is immaculate.
