Our Assessment:
The Browning Model 1886 High Grade Limited Edition is one of the most striking reintroductions of a classic lever-action rifle. Produced by Miroku in Japan for Browning in the late 20th century, these rifles honored John Browning’s legendary 1886 design while showcasing the kind of engraving and gold inlay usually reserved for presentation pieces. The 22” barrel in .45-70 Government makes this both a potent hunting rifle and a visually commanding collectible.
The .45-70 cartridge has a history stretching back to the 1870s, when it was first adopted by the U.S. Army in the Trapdoor Springfield. Known for its heavy, hard-hitting bullet, it remains popular among hunters for its ability to take on large and dangerous game. When paired with the robust action of the 1886 design, the .45-70 demonstrates both heritage and modern capability.
This particular rifle, with its untouched bore, exquisite factory engraving, and original packaging, offers enormous appeal for the serious collector. As a High Grade Limited Edition, it was produced in restricted numbers and was never intended to be a common field rifle. Whether displayed as an art piece of modern Browning craftsmanship or reserved as a future investment, this example checks every box. So bid high and bid firm. I encourage you to take a look at the condition of the item in our high-quality photos. Good luck with your bid. -K.F.
