Our Assessment: This is a Browning Model 1885 Low Wall single-shot rifle chambered in .45 Colt with a 24-inch barrel, manufactured in 1998. Designed as a refined interpretation of John Browning’s legendary falling block action, the Low Wall variant retains the strength and precision of its High Wall counterpart while offering a sleeker silhouette for lighter calibers. This example features a round blued barrel, color case-hardened receiver, and a finely checkered walnut stock with a straight grip and Schnabel forend. With its classic lines and mild-recoiling chambering, the rifle is ideal for target shooting, cowboy action, or as a collector’s piece for those who appreciate 19th-century design paired with modern craftsmanship.
