Our Assessment:. This Browning Model 1895 Grade I is a faithful, modern-made reproduction of the original Winchester 1895—John Browning’s last lever-action design and one of the first lever guns to utilize a box magazine to safely chamber pointed spitzer cartridges. Made by Miroku of Japan in 1984, this rifle is chambered in the classic .30-06 Springfield, a round that has remained one of America’s most trusted and versatile cartridges for over a century. With its 24” barrel, strong blued finish, and a Providence Tool Co. dual-aperture peep sight, this rifle bridges the gap between historical styling and modern functionality.
The rifle retains about 98% of its finish with only faint loss on the front of the hammer. The smooth walnut stocks are in Excellent condition, free of chips or cracks, and feature a clean straight grip with schnabel forend, the stock includes a quality Limbsaver recoil pad for added comfort. Mechanically sound, this lever-action operates as it should, with the hammer incorporating a half-cock safety and the lever including an additional actuating safety.
Whether you’re a collector looking to round out a lever-action set, a hunter wanting a vintage-styled rifle, or simply a fan of Browning’s contributions to firearm history, this Model 1895 offers a refined take on one of the most advanced lever-action rifles of the black powder and early smokeless era. It’s chambered in a cartridge that still gets the job done and wears the Browning name with pride. Please check out our photos, and good luck on your bids! – J.D.
