Our Assessment:. The Browning Citori 725 Sporting is one of the most respected modern over/under shotguns for competitive and sporting use, blending Browning’s proven Citori action with modern refinements. Manufactured by Miroku in Japan, the 725 series is lighter, faster handling, and offers a lower-profile receiver than previous Citori models, giving shooters a more natural point of aim. This Sporting model features a high rib, Grade I walnut stock, Invector-DS choke system, and an oil finish for both beauty and function.
This example, manufactured in 2012, is chambered for both 2 3/4” and 3” 12-gauge shells and is fitted with 28” vent rib barrels. It retains about 99% of its original blued finish with only the faintest handling marks. The bores are flawless, rating 10/10, and the factory engraving with pheasant and duck scenes is sharp and vivid. The Grade I walnut stocks are equally clean, with only minor hairline handling marks visible in the right light, crisp checkering, and Browning’s Inflex recoil pad for added comfort.
Mechanically, the shotgun is sound, with a solid lockup, smooth operation, a single selective trigger, and functioning ejectors. It comes with two Invector-DS choke tubes (Modified in the bottom barrel and Improved Cylinder in the top).
For the competitive clay shooter or sporting enthusiast looking for a premium over/under in excellent condition, this Citori 725 Sporting delivers top-tier performance, elegant aesthetics, and a reputation for durability that makes it equally at home on the range or in the field.
