Our Assessment: The Browning BPR-22 is a pump action rimfire rifle introduced in the late 1970s as part of Browning’s Japanese-manufactured rimfire lineup produced by Miroku. Designed as a smooth-handling alternative to semi-automatic and bolt action .22 rifles, the BPR-22 emphasized controlled operation and traditional sporting form. Its pump action system, tubular magazine, and walnut stock place it firmly within Browning’s late 20th century sporting rifle tradition. By this period, Browning’s rimfire production reflected mature design execution paired with consistent manufacturing quality.
This example is configured with a 20.25 inch barrel, brass-beaded front sight, adjustable flip-up U-notch rear sight, and a receiver cut for scope attachment, finished in original blue and stocked in checkered walnut with a semi-pistol grip. The rifle retains approximately 98 percent of its original metal finish, with light handling and storage wear, scattered scratches, thinning at the muzzle and receiver, and visible operational wear along the receiver and magazine tube from pump use. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 9 out of 10, while the stock shows scratches and deeper compression marks at the grip and buttstock without cracks or chips, overall rating Very Good. The action functions correctly and no accessories accompany the rifle. Please see our photos for a better understanding of condition and good luck with your bids! -N.P
