Our Assessment: Production of the BLR began in the early 1970s. The original “Model 81 BLR” revision had a steel receiver, which was changed to an aluminum alloy receiver with the introduction of the “Model 81 Lightning BLR” in 1995. The rifles are made in short-action and long-action models to accommodate a variety of calibers and are available with a straight-grip or pistol-grip stock. This is a Browning BLR Light Weight Gold Medallion, beautifully crafted with rosewood capped walnut stocks, palm-swell pistol grip, and foliate scroll engraving on its alloy receiver. Chambered for 6.5 Creedmoor, it should make for a versatile and accurate hunting rifle. You don’t want to pass up the chance to take this one home. Please see our photos and good luck!
