Markings: The left side of the top barrel is marked “BROWNING ARMS COMPANY MORGAN, UTAH / MADE IN JAPAN/MIROKU” and the left side of the monobloc is marked “INVECTOR / 30?“, “44” and “33715ZY”. There are a series of inspection marks between the locking lugs (please see photos.) The right side of the upper barrel is marked “CITORI SPECIAL STEEL 28 GA – 2 3/4?”. The inside of the forend iron is marked “33715” and the inside of the forend has “BA 33715” pressed into the wood. The top tang is marked “33715ZY131”. Each side of the receiver is marked “XP28 Special” in gold. The sides and bottom of the receiver have a scroll motif and gold borders. The bottom of the trigger guard has a gold Buck Mark logo.

Barrel Length: 30”, Vent Rib

Choke: Both Barrels are threaded for Browning Invector Chokes. Currently, Briley Skeet tubes are installed in both barrels. Also included are Browning Full, Improved Modified, Modified and two Improved Cylinder.

Sights / Optics: There is a white bead in a base at the front of the rib and a smaller white mid-bead. The top of the rib is finely checkered for glare reduction.

Weight: 7 lb., 8.9 oz.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with finger-grooved forend, pistol grip, monte carlo comb, and black rubber Browning buttpad. There is a small mark at the top-rear corner of the forend on the right. Otherwise, there is no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14 3/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the pad. The trigger is adjustable with a little bit of adjustment available both front and rear. The pad shows very minor wear. Drop at the front and rear of the comb is approximately 1 1/2″, drop at heel 2″. The cast is about neutral. Overall, the stocks are in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are bright. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. The barrels have minor wear from the forend, concealed while assembled. The receiver has only minor operational wear and light handling marks. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The barrels lock to the receiver with no play. The ejectors throw shells energetically. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun comes in a black cardboard Browning box with serial-matching label, manual, and an accessory box with the additional chokes, chamber locks with wrench, choke wrench, and two additional triggers (checkered wide trigger installed, smooth wide and smooth thin triggers included). The box has light storage wear and a tape-repaired tear on the front of the lid, in about Good-Very Good condition. The accessories are in Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: This Browning Citori XP28 Special was made for retailer Euro Chasse. With 30″ barrels threaded for Invector chokes, it will make for a versatile gun that can handle any task you could ask of a 28 gauge. The gun is in Excellent condition with little sign of use, great bores and strong mechanics. It comes in its original box, making it a great “used” option, and also comes with a nice set of Briley Skeet chokes. Please see our photos and good luck!
