Choke: This shotgun is threaded for invector plus choke tubes currently installed with MODified over Improved Cylinder(IC).     

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a small silver bead fixed to the front of the rib. The top of the rib is finely checkered for the purpose of reducing glare.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock and forend are a two piece checkered walnut. The stock is a semi pistol grip, fluted straight comb, with a Kick-EEZ butt pad. The forend is a checkered full finger shelf forend. The LOP measures approximately 12.5” to the end of the wood and 14.25” to the end of the pad and spacer combo. The drop at comb is 1.5” and the drop at heel is 2”. The cast is slightly right handed. The shotgun weighs 8lbs 9OZ. This stock was clearly cut short at some point and then brought back to the correct length via spacer and butt pad. The wood shows scattered lines, compressions and rub marks. There is a sticker stuck to the right flank. There are no visible chips or cracks. Overall the furniture set is in Good+ to Very Good condition. 

Type of Finish: Black with a Gold toned trigger. 

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The smooth bores are mirror bright with no erosion and only minor lines from use. There is some barely visible plastic fouling in the forcing cones. In this writer’s opinion the bores rate 9.75/10. 

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. The barrels show some scattered minor marks and lines along with the beginnings of some oxidation spots. The receiver shows some minor plum coloration and some harilines. There is rub wear from the safety. The inside of the action shows some minor rub wear. The bottom barrel has lost finish where the handguard rubs this is concealed when assembled. The markings are clear, the pins un-marred. Overall this shotgun is in about Good+-Very Good condition.   

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The shotgun features a single selective trigger and ejectors. The barrels lock up solidly. The safety does not engage automatically when the action is opened but does function properly when engaged manually. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Browning Citori Hunter made in 1998, is a modern over/under shotgun chambered for 3.5″ shells with 26″ barrels and INVECTOR plus chokes. It features a single selective inertial trigger with ejectors and a non-auto resetting safety, catering to shooters who prefer manual safety control. The shotgun’s Grade 1 walnut stock and forend are paired with a black finish on the barrels and receiver, giving it the clean, practical look of a working field gun.

This particular example is notable for having the shorter 26” barrels and a 3.5” chamber making the shotgun more compact while still being useful for waterfowl and larger birds. This model also features the Invector Plus interchangeable choke system allowing the user to pick their pattern size for whatever hunting or sporting situation arises.
