The right side of the top barrel is marked “INVECTOR PLUS CITORI SPECIAL STEEL 12GA-2 3/4” AND 3””. The top tang, under the lever, is marked with “12443NN131” and “S U O”. The bottom of the receiver is marked “BROWNING CITORI”. The bottom of the trigger guard has a Buck Mark logo. The buttpad is marked “BROWNING”. The forend iron is marked “12443” and the wood is marked “12443”.

Barrel Length: 28” Vent-Rib.

Choke: This Shotgun is threaded for Browning Invector PLUS 12 Gauge interchangeable chokes. Currently installed with Briley ported extended chokes Light Full over Light Modified.

Sights / Optics: This shotgun appears to have had the rib replaced with a high post rib with a large white dot front sight and a smaller mid bead. The rib is checkered for reducing glare.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock and forend are a two piece checkered walnut furniture set. The stock is a semi pistol grip, fluted straight comb, with a black rubber Browning buttpad. The forend is a checkered round profile Lightning style forend.  The LOP measures approximately 14.25” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stock has a minimal Left handed cast. The drop at comb is 1.5” and the drop at heel is 1.5”. This shotgun weighs 7lbs 13 ounces. The forend shows light scattered marks with surface level lines and some minor compressions. The level on the underside shows finish loss to the edges. The stock also shows scattered minor lines and compressions with a notable rough patch on the right rear side of the flank; this rough patch has a marr that went all the way through the finish. There are no visible chips or cracks. Overall the wood is in Good+ condition.

Type of Finish: Blued barrels & Gold Toned Trigger

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bores are mirror bright with no erosion. The bores show no lines from use with some minor plastic fouling in the forcing cones mainly in the upper barrel. In this writer’s opinion the bores rate 9.25/10.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 98% of the metal finish. The barrel set shows very minor handling with no notable marks or marrs. I do believe the original rib was replaced with this higher one; the replacement was very well done. The gold toned trigger has lost most of its finish from use. The receiver is in similar condition to the barrels showing minor handling but no notable marrs or marks. The markings are clear and the pins are clean. Overall this shotgun is in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The shotgun features a single selective inertial trigger and ejectors. The barrels lock up solidly. The safety does not engage automatically when the action is opened but does function properly when engaged manually. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun includes the two installed chokes.

Our Assessment: This 1999 Browning Citori is a finely crafted over-under shotgun that appears to have been modified for international trap, a faster-paced and more demanding version of standard trap shooting. It features 28″ barrels chambered for 3″ shells, giving it the flexibility to handle both lighter training loads and heavier international or competition-grade ammunition. The barrels are fitted with Invector Plus choke tubes, known for their long taper and consistent shot patterns. Currently installed are Briley extended ported chokes, Light Full over Light Modified, which are a popular choice for international trap, offering tight patterns and consistent breaks at longer distances.

The shotgun has been customized with a replaced high-post rib, raising the sight plane for a more upright shooting posture and quicker target acquisition, ideal for the fast rising targets in Olympic-style trap. The white front sight and smaller mid-bead enhance sight alignment and visibility in varying light. The walnut stock and forend retain Browning’s reputation for quality wood and elegant checkering, while the blued finish provides a classic and durable exterior. These features, combined with the smooth operation of the Citori action, make this shotgun a highly capable and responsive platform for serious shooters looking for a refined, competition-tuned firearm.
