Our Assessment: The Browning BT-99 has long been a favorite among trap shooters for its simplicity, durability, and effectiveness. Produced by Miroku in Japan and imported by Browning, the BT-99 was purpose-built for breaking clays with precision and reliability. This particular example, made in 1984, sports a long 34” barrel and fixed full choke—perfectly tailored for trap shooting.
Its high Monte Carlo comb, crisp checkering, and solid build make it ideal for competitors looking for an affordable and dependable single-shot option. The barrel rib and dual bead sights give shooters a clean sight picture, while the well-balanced design provides a smooth swing to the target. Despite some honest wear from use, this gun remains a solid example of Browning’s mid-20th century trap shooting lineage.
Whether you’re stepping into the sport or adding to a vintage clay gun collection, this BT-99 offers excellent value and a proven track record. Please see our high quality photos and good luck on your bid! -M.C.
