The LOP measures 14 1/4″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The drop at comb is about 1 3/4″ and the drop at the heel is about 2 3/4″. The buttplate has some stubborn residue in its texturing, but little in the way of wear. Overall, the stocks are in Very Good-Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are mostly bright. There is no erosion in the bores, just a little stubborn fouling. In this writer’s opinion, the bores rate 9+/10.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 96% of its metal finish. There are a few scattered minor scuffs and tiny scratches. The barrels have minor wear from the forend, concealed when assembled. The action shows light operational wear. The screw heads range are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly including ejectors. The safety engages automatically when the action is opened. The barrels lock to the receiver with no play. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun comes with a serial-matching Browning cardboard box with manual.
Our Assessment: The Browning Side by Side or BSS as it’s known is famous for reliability and longevity. They are almost impossible to wear out. This example was manufactured in 1973 and shows signs of infrequent and responsible use. It has a single non-selective trigger, balances just barely ahead of the barrel hinge and points well with its 28″ barrels. This would make a great field gun, but with its condition and original box, would be equally suited to a Browning collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
