Our Assessment: This Browning SA-22 Grade III is a fine example of mid-century Belgian craftsmanship, combining elegant design with proven functionality. Manufactured in 1971, this takedown rifle features Grade III engraving with a coin-finished receiver, beautifully detailed with game scenes and scrollwork. The walnut stocks are finely checkered with a warm, rich grain, and the blued 19.5″ barrel wears classic iron sights and factory mounts for optics. Mechanically, the rifle retains its smooth takedown design and reliable tube-fed semi-automatic action. The bore is sharp and bright, showing only minor corrosion at the muzzle, and the overall metal finish is 98% intact, reflecting careful use and long-term preservation.
What truly elevates this rifle is its completeness and presentation. It includes the original factory-matching box, owner’s manual, a vintage Browning-branded 4x scope with mounts and box, and a fur-lined leather Browning case—items that significantly enhance both collector value and display appeal. Whether you’re a Browning collector, a fan of rimfire takedowns, or simply someone who appreciates functional artwork, this rifle delivers. With its factory engraving, classic Belgian heritage, and outstanding condition, it represents one of the most desirable configurations of the SA-22 ever produced.
