Markings: The right side of the receiver is marked “03758NV2L7”. The right shoulder of the barrel is marked “BROWNING MODEL 1885 CALIBER .223 REM/5.56MM ONLY”. The left shoulder of the barrel is marked “BROWNING ARMS COMPANY MORGAN, UTAH & MONTREAL P.Q. / MADE IN JAPAN” and “NP” at the chamber.

Sights / Optics: No provision for iron sights. The top of the barrel and receiver are mounted with a Leupold VX-3 3.5-10x40mm scope with Duplex Crosshair Reticle. The sight picture is clear. The scope rates in Excellent condition.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two piece checkered select walnut with semi-pistol grip, fluted straight comb, Browning hard rubber buttplate, schnabel tip forend, and two sling studs front and rear. There are no chips or cracks. There are scattered compressions throughout. The LOP is just under 13 3/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. Overall the stock set is in Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows little to no operation wear. There is factory grease on the falling block. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall this rifle is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The hammer has a half-cock safety position and the single trigger breaks crisply. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
