Markings: The left of the left barrel at the chamber is marked “PIETRO BERETTA – GARDONE V.T. / MADE IN ITALY” and the right of the right barrel is marked “PIETRO BERETTA – GARDONE V.T. / CAL. 12”. The top of the rib is marked “BERETTA” and has a three arrow logo. The top of both barrels are marked “HIGH STRENGTH CHROMIUM MOLYBDENUM STEEL -S-“. The barrel flat is marked with the date code, a host of proofs, serial number, and “CHOKE PB BERETTA” twice. The bottom of the rib is hand inscribed with the name of a previous owner and a series of numbers. The bottom of each barrel has proofs. The forend iron is marked “34855”. The water table is marked with a host of proofs, “P. BERETTA Gardone V.T.” and with the serial number. The receiver and trigger guard have scroll engraving. The bottom of the receiver is marked “P. BERETTA GARDONE V.T. / MADE IN ITALY” and with a three arrow logo.

Barrel Length: 30”

Choke: Left: Full, Right: Improved Modified. Both are fixed.

Sights/Optics: This shotgun is mounted with a gold-colored bead front sight at the front of the finely checkered solid rib.

Stock Configuration and Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered wood with a pistol grip, straight comb, and black rubber buttpad. There is scattered light to moderate wear. The most noticeable wear are compressions scattered over the buttstock. There are hairline cracks at the rear of the top tang. There is a crack on either side of the wrist at the bottom edge. The checkering is mostly strong. There are some scattered little marks through the finish. Drop at comb is 1 3/8”, heel is 2 1/4”. The LOP measures 14” and 14 3/4″ from the front of the trigger to the rear of the buttpad and 13” and 13 3/4″. The buttpad has some scattered light wear. The stocks rate in about Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are bright with no erosion.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 93% of its metal finish. The barrels have some scattered little areas of light surface oxidation. There are a few scattered scuffs that have thinned the finish and a few marks through the finish, the most noticeable are on the right side of the chamber. There are some light marks on the receiver. The trigger guard has some light wobble. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The safety does not engage automatically, and must be disengaged between shots. The barrels lock up with no play to the receiver. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: Through years of production, well-proven side by side shotguns have shown off the best of Beretta’s skill. Surprisingly light and responsive, they incorporate features that enhance performance and durability while preserving their simplicity. This is a Silver Hawk, which has finish and engraving providing beauty equal to its manufacturing quality. This shotgun is in Fine condition with 93% of its finish, bright bores, strong mechanics, and only some wear on the barrels.
