Markings: The upper tang is marked “L95123B”. The left side of the receiver is marked “P.Beretta”. The trigger plate is marked “PATENTED” and is signed “Bottega C. Giovanelli”. The bottom of the receiver is marked “MADE IN ITALY / P. Beretta / S687EELL / Diamond Pigeon”. There are a few proofs on the water table. The right side of the receiver is marked “P.Beretta”. The butt pad is marked “P.BERETTA”. All sides of the receiver, the lever, trigger guard, tang, and screws are beautifully engraved with floral engraving while the receivers display different fowl scenes. The jeweled steel in the forend is marked “95123”. The barrel is serial matching.
Barrel Length: 28”
Choke: The barrels are threaded for Beretta MOBIL chokes currently installed Skeet over Improved Cylinder.
Sights / Optics: The barrel has a small brass bead mounted to the front of the rib. The rib is finely checkered for the purpose of reducing glare.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture set is a two-piece checkered select walnut with a traditional slab side Schnable forend and a semi pistol grip, adjustable wrapped comb, thin wrist stock with a Decelerator rubber butt pad. The length of pull is 12.5” the cast is right handed and the shotgun weighs 6lbs 3OZ. The wood shows scattered minor compressions and surface level lines. Both rear top edges of the forend show small chips. The stock has been modified to have the adjustable comb and the trigger guard has had a hand stop installed to keep the hand from riding too high on the thin wrist. Where the stock was cut down to adjust LOP there are some small chips in the edges. The butt pad is soft and pliable; there are no cracks in the wood. The lower right edge of the pommel shows a small punch mark. Overall the wood is in Good+-Very Good condition.
Type of Finish: Blued and coin.
Finish Originality: Original.
Bore Condition: The bores are mirror bright. There is no erosion in the bores. The bores show minor lines from use and some barely visible plastic fouling. In this writer’s opinion the bores rate 9.25/10.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains approximately 98% of its metal finish. The receiver shows almost no signs of wear. The barrel sets show minor scattered marks and some wear that is concealed when assembled. The engraving is beautiful to see in person. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in Very Good+ condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly including ejectors. The action locks up tight with no play. The safety does not set automatically but functions properly when set manually. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
