Markings: The top tang is marked “L16802B”. The water table is marked with Italian proofs. The bottom of the receiver is marked “MADE IN ITALY” and “P. Beretta / Mod. 687DU”. The trigger plate is marked “PATENTED / D.U.900510410″. The receiver has foliate scroll engraving that is continued on the guard, lever, tang, and forend iron. The sides of the frame are also marked “P. Beretta”. The lockplates and bottom of the frame have limited edition engraved game scenes. The left lockplate is marked “DUCKS UNLIMITED” and the right is marked “Maass”. The top of the forend iron is marked “16802”. The left of the top barrel is marked “P. Beretta – Gardone V.T. – ITALY” followed by the “PB” logo and “410 Ga. 3? MAGNUM– 26””. The right of the top barrel is marked with “MADE IN ITALY” and a warning to read the manual. Below the forend, the left of each barrel is marked with Italian proofs, the bottom barrel also has “-EXCELSIOR- HIGH STRENGTH ALLOYED STEEL”. The monoblock is marked with the serial number, Italian proofs and “BB” in box date code.

Sights / Optics: There is a bright bead mounted to the front of the rib. The rib is finely checkered for glare-reduction.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with a pistol grip, straight comb, and a brown ruber buttpad with a brown leather overlay. There is a brass initial plate in the belly and a Ducks Unlimited logo inlaid in the butt of the pistol grip. There are no major defects, just light handling wear. The checkering is strong. The LOP measures 14 1/2” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The drop at comb measures approximately 1 1/4” and 2 1/8” at the heel. The cast is about neutral. The pad has light wear. Overall, the stocks are in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are bright. There is no erosion in the bores but there is some stubborn fouling.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains approximately 98% of its metal finish. The bottom barrel has a few scuffs that have thinned the finish on the right side. There are a few little spots of oil that from storage that will come off with a good cleaning. The frame has some light handling wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in about Fine Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly including ejectors. The action locks up tight with no play. The safety engages automatically when opening the action. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a Beretta serial matching box, paperwork including the manual, Ducks Unlimited certificate, and a Ducks Unlimited case. The box has some edge wear, a few creases, and scuffs, in about Very Good condition. The Ducks Unlimited case has a green fabric exterior and a green velvet interior, in about Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: This Beretta 687 in 410 gauge that was made as a limited edition for Ducks Unlimited and is a fine example of Beretta quality. With the immense quality of a Beretta, beautiful limited edition engraving and nice walnut stocks, this is a gun that comes alive in your hands and promises to be an absolute nightmare for both clay and flesh birds. Chambered for 410 gauge with a 26? barrel and capable of accepting a variety of chokes, this is a versatile gun that will be suitable for upland birds and challenging yourself on the Skeet fields. This shotgun is in Fine Plus condition with little sign of use. If you have an appreciation for the finest double guns, this is a fantastic gun you don’t want to pass up.
