Markings: The top tang is marked “U36251S / SILVER PIGEON”, the bottom of the receiver is marked “MADE IN ITALY / 687 SILVER PIGEON V” and a gold inlaid Beretta logo, each side is marked “BERETTA” in banner and the water table is marked with two Italian proofs and “IT17”. The receiver has extensive fine scroll and floral engraving with gold inlaid fowl scenes on the sides. The trigger plate is marked “PATENTED”. The bottom of the trigger guard has floral engraving. The top of the forend is marked “C5C354P” and “10891”, the exterior of the forend iron has floral engraving. The left shoulder of the upper chamber is marked “28 GA. 2 3/4” – 70 – 28” / BERETTA – GARDONE V.T. – MADE IN ITALY” and the right shoulder is marked with a warning address over “EXCELSIOR H.S.A. STEEL”. The right side of each barrel is marked “13.9” below the stock line and the left is marked with an Italian proof mark. The bottom of the lower barrel is marked “0244631”. The bottom of the monobloc is marked “U36251S”, “KG1.180”, two Italian proof marks, and “CS” date code.

Choke: This shotgun is threaded for removable chokes with Modified over Improved Cylinder installed. Also included are Improved Modified, Full, and Skeet.
Sights / Optics: This shotgun is mounted with a steel bead at the front of the rib. The top of the rib is finely checkered to reduce glare.
Weight: 6 lb., 2.9 oz.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with a straight grip, straight comb and solid black rubber Beretta buttpad. An initial plate is present in the belly. There is no significant wear or damage. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14 1/2” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The drop at the comb is about 1 1/4?, the drop at the heel is about 1 3/4?. The cast is slightly off. The recoil pad is soft with no significant wear. The stocks rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bores are bright. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. There are a couple of faint spots of loss on the trigger guard. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly including ejectors. The action locks up tight with no play. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun comes in a blue plastic Beretta case with a serial-matching labeled cardboard sleeve, paperwork including a manual, additional buttpad, the mentioned additional chokes, sling swivels, gun oil, and a choke wrench.
Our Assessment: This Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon V in 28 gauge is a great example of quality Beretta shotguns. From the solid action to the beautifully engraved scenes on the receiver, this is a shotgun that will turn some heads at the range with performance to match its looks. The shotgun is in about excellent condition with some extremely no significant wear in the stocks, bright bores and strong mechanics. It comes with a nice Beretta case for storage and transport.
