Our Assessment: The Beretta 1934 is to this day a collectible and desirable pistol. Designed in the early 30s and brought into service officially in 1935, just over 1,000,000 were produced over the next 56 years, and were utilized by Italian, German, Libyan, Finnish, Romanian, and Yugoslavian militaries. The consumer variant was called the Cougar, and was available in the US. This example is from the fascist era in Italy, denoted by the roman numerals XIII—the 13th year of the fascist regime and 1935 specifically. It bears the mark of the Royal Italian Air Force. During the 1930s, the fledgling Regia Aeronautica was involved in its first military operations, first in Ethiopia in 1935, and later in the Spanish Civil War between 1936 and 1939. This pistol is a very cool part of military and world history, and will be a prized part of any Military collection. Good luck and happy bidding!
