Our Assessment: The Beretta Laramie is a striking modern reproduction of the classic Smith & Wesson No. 3 top-break revolver, blending 19th-century American frontier design with 21st-century craftsmanship from A. Uberti of Italy. Chambered in .45 Colt, the Laramie offers single-action operation with a six-shot fluted cylinder, automatic ejector system, and an adjustable rear sight mounted to the barrel latch. Unlike many early blackpowder-era top-breaks, this modern interpretation is built to handle standard smokeless loads, making it a shootable and visually stunning homage to the Old West. This example, manufactured in 2005, is in Excellent to Like New condition, retaining about 98% of its original finish with only faint handling marks and a crisp cylinder turn line. The blued barrel and cylinder contrast beautifully with the case-colored frame, and the bore is bright with sharp rifling, rating 9.5/10 in this writer’s opinion. The revolver currently wears a set of creamy faux-ivory grips with visible natural-style checking and fine age lines. While not original, they complement the aesthetic beautifully. The original smooth wood grips are included, along with the factory box and paperwork, making this a complete and highly collectible package.
Whether you’re a collector of classic revolvers, a cowboy-action enthusiast, or simply appreciate finely crafted firearms with a nod to history, the Beretta Laramie offers both beauty and performance. It’s a modern shooter with the soul of a 19th-century frontier revolver. -R.E.
