Choke: The barrels are cut for Beretta Mobil Chokes, currently installed Full Over Modified. Also includes Improved Modified, Improved Cylinder and Cylinder.
Sights / Optics: This shotgun is equipped with a Silver bead front sight and a fully checkered rib to reduce glare.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The wood furniture is a two piece Beretta Walnut stock set. The stock is a checkered semi pistol grip, fluted straight comb stock with gel butt pad. The forend is a checkered contoured round profile forend with finger shelf. The length of pull is 14.75”, the drop at comb is 1.5” and the drop at heel is 2.5”. The shotgun weighs 7lbs 10oz. The stock wood shows some minor handling with the most notable mark being the scratch on the left cheek of the stock . The forend shows only minor handling. There are no visible chips or cracks. The Gel-Tek butt pad shows only age. Overall the furniture set on this shotgun is in about Excellent condition.
Type of Finish: Blued Barrels with a case color receiver and gold trigger.
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The smooth bores are mirror bright with no erosion or pitting. The forcing cones show some barely visible plastic fouling. Both barrels show some barely visible lines from use. In this writer’s opinion the bores rate 9.8/10.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains approximately 98% of its metal finish. There is some minor wear on the metal that is covered when the shotgun is assembled. The barrels show a few very minor marks. The right side of the tang lever is missing some case color finish. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly including the ejectors. The action locks up tight with no play. The safety does set automatically after firing. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun includes a Blue Beretta case, the five chokes, three choke holders, choke wrench, manual, extra butt pad, snap caps, Beretta branded zipper case and swivel kit.
Our Assessment: This Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon V in 12 gauge represents one of the most refined expressions of Beretta’s long-standing over-under tradition. This 2007 example is fitted with 28″ barrels cut for Beretta Mobil chokes, offering excellent versatility for both field and clays use. Weighing in at 7 lbs 10 oz, it has the ideal balance and swing characteristics expected from a premium 12-gauge sporting shotgun.
What elevates the Silver Pigeon V above standard models is its presentation and finish. The case-colored receiver is beautifully engraved with detailed duck and pheasant scenes, highlighted by a striking gold Beretta trident on the underside of the action. Very high-grade walnut furniture with rich figure completes the package, giving the shotgun a truly upscale look and feel.
