Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “BENELLI ARMI S.P.A. – URBINO – MADE IN ITALY”. The right side of the barrel is marked “12 GA. 3″ FOR 2 3/4″ OR 3″ SHELLS / READ OWNERS MANUAL BEFORE USING GUN”. The right side of the receiver is marked “BENELLI U.S.A CORP. – ACCOKEEK, M.D. – MADE IN ITALY”. The left side of the receiver is marked “12 GA. – M1 SUPER 90 – BENELLI – ITALY”. The underside of the receiver is marked with the serial number, date code, and Italian proof marks. The bolt is marked “BENELLI ARMI SYSTEM”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a post with a recessed white dot and is mounted between two protective ears. The front sight is adjustable for windage. The rear sight is an LPA Sights ghost ring sight with two recessed white dots in a base with two protective ears screwed to the receiver, it is adjustable for windage and elevation. The rear sight base has some light play to the receiver.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are checkered black synthetic with a tactical pistol grip, straight comb, finger groove forend, sling bars on both sides of the buttstock, and a black rubber buttpad. There are some scattered scuffs and draglines. There are some scrapes and scratches, mainly on the forend. There are some scattered light handling marks. The checkering is mostly strong with some compressions and nicks. The LOP measures 14 1/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the rubber recoil pad. The pad has some light wear, mostly on the edges. The stocks rate in about Fine overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 90% of its metal finish. The receiver has some scattered scratches, little scrapes, and some thinning. The trigger guard has some little nicks and marks through the finish on the edges. The barrel has some scattered scuffs that have lightly thinned the finish. The extended magazine tube has scattered scuffs, areas of finish loss, little nicks, and light scratches. There are some areas of black paint on the magazine tube. The rear sight has some play to the receiver. The screw heads are strong the pinheads are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The capacity is 7+1 of 2 3/4″ shells. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Model M1 Super 90 is a semi-automatic shotgun manufactured by Benelli. It is available in several versions for civilian, law enforcement and military use. It features the proprietary Benelli recoil system, known for its reliability and easy maintenance. Due to the inertia recoil system, the M1 should use heavier loads to cycle properly but because the action is inertia driven vs. the traditional gas cycling operation it can fire and reliably cycle lighter loads. A few of us at the shop own M1 Super 90 shotguns and could not be happier! The ultra-reliable inertia system is low maintenance (unlike some of our significant others) and allows for reduced recoil as well. This Super 90 was made in 2001 and is configured with synthetic stocks with a tactical pistol grip. This is a great option for home defense or tactical 3-gun competitions. If it’s good enough for the military, law enforcement, and professional competitors, it should do just fine defending your property. Please see our pictures and good luck!
