Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture set on this shotgun is a two piece checkered walnut set with a narrow, slab side, Schnabel forend with a push button release in the nose. The stock has a checkered semi-pistol grip, with straight comb and a brown vented rubber butt pad. The LOP is 15” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The drop at comb is 1.5” and the drop at heel is 2.25”. The shotgun weighs 7lbs 1OZ. The wood shows compressions, scratches and chips in the finish scattered throughout the surface of the wood. There are no visible chips or cracks. The butt pad sits slightly proud over the wood. The pad is semi soft and pliable showing almost no wear marks. The most notable marrs are on the belly and right rear side of the stock. Overall the wood is in Good+-Very Good condition.

Type of Finish: Blue

Finish Originality: All Original

Bore Condition: The bores are mirror bright with no erosion. The bottom barrel shows virtually no use. The top barrel shows some minor visible plastic fouling in the forcing cone. In this writer’s opinion the bores rate 9.75/10.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains 99% of its metal finish. The action shows some minor rub wear with some discoloration from old oil. Under the safety shows some rub wear from use. The edges of the trigger guard show some thinning finish and the trigger has had a wide shoe added to it. The markings are clear. Overall this shotgun is in Very Good-Very Good+ condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The action is slightly stiff from non-use.  The shotgun features a single selective trigger and ejectors. The barrels lock up solidly. The safety does not engage automatically when the action is opened but does function properly when engaged manually. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun includes the original box.

Our Assessment: This Browning Over/Under B27 in 12 gauge was made by FN after the Browning Superposed was largely discontinued. It was designed and produced prior to the Japanese manufactured Citori. Although made primarily for the European market, some were imported to the United States in various configurations. We believe this example was made for the U.S. as photos we have seen of the European models have sling swivels. This standard example shows very tasteful engraving and has a narrow receiver and rib with a standard bead front sight that presents a very nice pointing reference. The shotgun is very well balanced and feels good on the swing. The forend features a unique push button release concealed in the nose that gives the forend a very clean look. The mechanical trigger is light and crisp and even though this shotgun features fixed FULL over IM chokes it has a barrel selector so you can pick which barrel fires first. In conclusion not only is this a relatively rare transitional model for Browning it is a very well set up shotgun that will definitely break some clays out on the range.
