Our Assessment: A premium, piston-driven Barrett carbine with the confident, duty-grade stance that defined the REC7 series. The short-stroke gas piston system keeps the action clean and consistent, giving the rifle a smooth, deliberate cycling rhythm that stands apart from standard DI carbines. The 16? barrel is tuned for the 6.8 SPC cartridge, delivering the flatter trajectory and stronger terminal performance that made the round a favorite in early 21st-century intermediate-caliber development. The REC7’s aggressive look — forged receivers, ARMS handguard, and Barrett’s refined machining — gives it a crisp, purposeful silhouette built for serious use.
