Our Assessment: AYA of Eibar, Spain, earned its reputation in the mid-20th century for building high-quality doubles patterned after classic British shotguns. Produced in the 1960s and 1970s for the American market, including contract guns sold through Sears, this model follows the traditional boxlock format with clean lines, reliable lockwork, and well-executed walnut furniture. The blued finish, and sharply cut checkering echo the craftsmanship standards that made AYA one of Spain’s most respected makers during a period when European doubles remained popular for field use.
Chambered in 410 gauge with 3-inch chambers and configured with Modified and Full chokes, the shotgun embodies the versatile patterns long favored for upland and general-purpose hunting. The bright bores, strong finish, and tidy fitment seen here capture the practical elegance of a well-made Spanish double from the era, combining traditional styling with dependable mechanical form.
