Our Assessment: The GSG MP40 P pistol is a modern semi automatic interpretation of the iconic German MP40 submachine gun, a firearm closely associated with German forces during the Second World War. Manufactured in 1987 and marked with the BH date code, this example was produced by German Sport Guns and later imported by American Tactical as a civilian legal semi automatic variant. While visually faithful to the wartime silhouette, the MP40 P operates from a closed bolt blowback system rather than the original open bolt select fire design. The compact 10 inch barrel and folding style sights retain much of the recognizable MP40 profile, giving the pistol a distinctive historical aesthetic while remaining compliant with modern semi automatic operation.
Chambered in 9mm, the widely adopted service cartridge developed in 1902 that became the dominant military and police handgun round of the twentieth century, this example retains approximately 90 percent of its black finish with only light handling and storage wear visible. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no visible erosion, rating 9 out of 10. The pistol includes one 25 round magazine and is accompanied by its original GSG wooden crate along with accessories including a chamber lock with keys, lubrication packet, owner’s manual, additional front sight blades, takedown tools, and a GSG sticker. With its distinctive MP40 styling and factory accessory set, this example presents as a well preserved modern tribute to one of the most recognizable submachine gun designs of the twentieth century.
