Markings: Rear top of the receiver is marked “US RIFLE / 7.62-MM M14 / (the Armscorp cartouche / 10376”. The right side of the barrel is marked “TRW 7790190 12 63 BR”. The top of the bolt carrier group is marked “7790186 / TRW ZH”. The right side of the receiver is marked “ARMSCORP USA BALTIMORE MD”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade with protective wings and the rear sight is a military aperture sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are beautiful traditional walnut wood stocks with a walnut handguard and a pistol grip and a metal buttplate. The LOP measures 13” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttstock. The stock rates an Excellent to Like New condition.
Magazine Quantity & Condition: None. This rifle does not come with a magazine, but it can take detachable 7.62x51mm / 308 Win box magazines.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is little to no visible erosion in the bore. This writer sees a 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The operating rod shows very minor surface wear from responsible prior use. The screw heads and pins are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates an Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: Armscorp USA produces accurized M14 type rifles for competition shooters. In this case, a beautiful M14 type rifle with a select walnut upper handguard instead of the normal composite one.
The M14 replaced the M1 Garand as the infantry rifle for US forces in 1957 and fires the 7.62×51 NATO round (.308) In spite of its early 1964 cancellation by Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, it has remained in service longer than any other US service rifle, surpassing the previous record holder — the M1903 Springfield.
Current use includes the M21 sniper rifle — a match-grade M14 selected for accuracy.
The .308 round retains advantages over the 5.56 NATO in both range and armor penetration. After long range engagements in Afghanistan that were problematic with M4s, there is discussion of bringing a designated marksman role back to Army and Marine infantry squads with the DMR (designated marksman rifle) — an upgraded M14.
Here is an opportunity to own a new/old piece of military technology. This particular rifle has seen very little use and would add a nice touch to a military collection or serve as a competition gun for 1000-yard national matches. Please see our photos. -C.B.
