There are two small, threaded holes in the bottom of the forend behind the front sling stud. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering is well defined. The LOP measures 13 3/4″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate has scattered minor wear. Overall, the stock is in Very Good condition.

Type of Finish: Blue

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. The balance is mostly in finish loss around the scribed initials on the trigger guard. There are some odd voids in the finish on the top of the bridge, possibly from minor oxidation that was removed. Otherwise, there is only light operational wear and handling marks. The screw heads range from sharp to lightly tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Very Good-plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with a single 5-round magazine.

Our Assessment: This is a neat .22 Magnum rifle made for Savage by Anschütz, a manufacturer known worldwide for their quality target rifle products. They have also made very nice sporting rifles over the years. This example has some wear in the wood but the mechanics and bore are very solid. The stock has attractive skip-line checkering and almost looks like Weatherby wood. This is a very nice adult sized rifle that is ready for the addition of a scope which will be perfect for varmint hunting. Good luck in your bidding!
