Markings: The left side of the slide is marked with the AMT Logo and “AUTOMAG III / .30 CARBINE”. The left side of the frame is marked “IRWINDALE, CA.” next to the AMT logo. The right side of the frame is marked “A07184”. The right side of the slide is marked “STAINLESS – MADE IN U.S.A. / PAT. PEND.” and with AMT’s three line warning.

Sights / Optics: The rear sight is a serrated painted ramped blade fixed to the slide. The rear sight is a rectangular notch sight pinned to the slide, adjustable for elevation and windage.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two piece serrated black synthetic panels. The grips show no significant wear or damage. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Excellent condition.
Type of Finish: Stainless Steel
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is semi-bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore, just a small amount of fouling on the lands. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are some scattered superficial draglines and faint scratches throughout. There is some light wear on the slide in front of the dust cover. There are some light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp to lightly used. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The hammer can fall from half-cock. The slide moves smoothly and has some play to the frame. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with an 8-round magazine in Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: This AMT AutoMag III is chambered .30 Carbine, which was developed for the M1 Carbine just before WWII. The .30 Carbine round is a light rifle caliber, so it could be expected to feel like a heavy pistol round. This Automag III can handle it, being a beefy pistol with a stainless steel construction. The Automag III was designed by Harry Sanford, who developed the original Automag. This pistol is in about Excellent condition, exhibiting only minor marks and is equipped with two 8 round magazines.
