The inside of each grip panel has “COLT’S HTFD. CONN.” molded into them. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The checkering is sharp and the colt and eagle both show high detail. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Excellent condition.
Type of Finish: The revolver is blued with a case colored frame.
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 97% of its metal finish. The barrel has a spot of wear on the left at the muzzle, a few very light scratches on the bottom and light handling marks. The framehas a spot of light wear on each side at the bottom-rear and light handling marks. The Cylinder has a very faint, incomplete turn line, mostly not through the finish and a few scattered light marks. The grip frame has a few light marks on the bottom of the trigger guard and on the butt. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. This revolver would rate in about Fine-plus condition but for the hand spring (see Mechanics).
Mechanics: The hand spring is either missing or broken. The cylinder will not advance when the hammer is cocked unless the gun is pointed downward to allow the hand to fall forward to the ratchet. Otherwise, the action functions correctly. Cylinder lockup produces almost no play on each chamber. The trigger is crisp. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a two-piece blue cardboard Colt box with a white cardboard sleeve with serial-matching label and orange “stop-sign” hang-tag. The box has little wear, mostly at edges, in about Fine-Excellent condition. The sleeve has light scattered wear, in about Very Good-plus condition.
Our Assessment: Everyone should have a Colt Single Action Army, and this would be a nice one to add to any collection. Manufactured in 2004, this revolver is chambered in the original .45 Colt cartridge. The revolver appears in Fine-plus condition however it will need a new hand spring to function properly. The 5 1/2″ barrel length is a nice balance between the sight radius of the 7 1/2″ and the handiness of the 4 3/4″. This is going to be popular with collectors but would also make a fine shooter. Please see our photos and good luck!
