Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece black checkered rubber with finger grooves and gold Rampant Colt medallions. There are a few minor handling marks and there is what appears to be some flashing from the mold in the front of the top finger groove. The grips have light play to the frame. The grips rate in about Very Good-Fine overall condition and appear Fine-Excellent if discounting the play.
Type of Finish: Stainless Steel
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are a few scattered minor scratches, most notable on the right of the frame below and in front of the cylinder. The cylinder has a light turn-line. The screw heads are Sharp. The markings are Clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly and the cylinder lockup has very little play on each chamber. The double action trigger is smooth and the single action is crisp. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The revolver comes in a blue plastic Colt case with serial-matching cardboard sleeve and an assortment of factory paperwork which includes the orange “stop-sign” hang-tag but does not include a manual. The case has no notable wear or damage, in Excellent condition. The cardboard sleeve has light wear at edges and corners with fraying at the label-end leaf, in about Good-Very Good condition.
Our Assessment: Colt introduced the Anaconda built on a new, heavy “AA” frame to compete with the Ruger Redhawk and S&W Model 29 revolvers. Our impression is that this revolver probably offers a smoother double action pull than the Ruger and is more rugged than the S&W. This revolver is great for hunting using .44 Magnum cartridges and with .44 Special for casual days at the range. This example is in Fine condition with about 97% of its stainless finish and little sign of use. It comes with its original Colt cardboard sleeve and plastic case, equally ready to hit the range or round out a collection of the Seven Serpents. Please see our photos and good luck!
