Our Assessment: The Benelli M1 (Super 90) is a semi-automatic shotgun manufactured by Benelli Armi S.P.A.. It is available in several versions for civilian, law enforcement and military use. It features the proprietary Benelli recoil system, known for its reliability and easy maintenance. Due to the inertia recoil system, the M1 shouldn’t have to use heavier loads to cycle properly, because the action is inertia driven vs. the traditional gas cycling operation it can fire and reliably cycle lighter loads. A few of us at the shop own M1 Super 90 shotguns and could not be happier! The ultra-reliable inertia system is low maintenance (unlike some of our significant others) and allows for reduced recoil as well. This Super 90 was imported by Heckler & Koch in 1995 and has been outfitted with an extended magazine tube and sling. It comes in its original box with some nice accessories including choke tubes and a Galco shell holder. If it’s good enough for the military, law enforcement, and professional competitors, it should do just fine defending your homestead. Please see our pictures and good luck.
