Sights / Optics: The front sight is a brass bead screwed into the rib near the muzzle. The rib is finely serrated to reduce glare.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are checkered walnut with a straight grip and comb, serrated black hard rubber buttplate and splinter forend. The stocks have a few scattered light compressions and nicks. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering has smoothed slightly from handling but is well defined. The LOP measures 14 1/4” from the front of the forward trigger and 13 3/8” from the front of the rear trigger to the back of the buttplate. The drop at comb is 1 3/8″ and the drop at heel is 2 3/8″. The cast is about neutral. The forend is proud to the iron. The buttstock is mostly flush to the metal, slightly shy in some arease. The buttplate has light marring in the bottom-left of the serrations and a line across the bottom at the screw head. We were unable to remove the buttplate to inspect whether this is a repaired chip or not as the plate is glued to the wood, indicating that it likely is a repaired chip. Overall, the stocks are in about Very Good-Fine condition.
Type of Finish: Blued Barrels, Coin Receiver
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bores are bright with no erosion
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 96% of its metal finish. The barrels have a few scattered light marks and a spot of light freckling on the right barrel about 6″ from the muzzle with mottling in the finish near the rib and the rib has very lightly thinning finish on its edges with a pair of light nicks on the top toward the rear. The receiver has some scattered very faint frosting. The trigger guard/bottom tang have a few scattered light marks with strong finish. The lever and safety have light handling wear from operation. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The safety automatically engages when the action is opened. The action locks up tight with no play between the barrels and receiver. We did not fire this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None.
Our Assessment: Prandelli & Gasperini was a sporting arms manufacturer in Val Trompia, Italy, perhaps the most proliferate arms manufacturing region in the country. This example is a boxlock from 1966 chambered for 28 gauge. It is in about Fine condition with the vast majority of its finish, bright bores and strong mechanics. This is a beautiful gun which would serve just as well turning heads at the Skeet fields as it would dropping birds in the field. Please see our photos and good luck!
