Our Assessment: Dan Wesson is the great grandson and namesake of the founder of Smith & Wesson. Dan the younger formed Dan Wesson Arms and became famous with his high quality revolvers and their interchangeable barrels. This is one beefy hand cannon. Weighing a almost 4 lbs, this is not a pistol for the feeble and with no commercial source of ammunition, this gun is for reloaders only. This revolver is equipped with an 8” interchangeable shrouded barrel. Additional barrels in 4”, 6” or 10” may be available on the used market. This revolver retains about 98% of its metal finish and rates in about Excellent condition. The cartridge was developed along with other Super Magnums by Elgin Gates for use in hangun metallic silhouette matches. The sport requires a cartridge which can be fired at and knock over metal targets out to 200 yards, requiring both high velocity and a heavy projectile. This certainly provides that being able to move a 300 grain projectile at about 1250-1400fps from this 8″ barrel. For anyone in the market for a ridiculously big and powerful revolver, this is your Huckleberry. Please see our photos and good luck!
