Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are original condition oiled wood. The forend shows almost no markings and only a slight depression behind the barrel band. The buttstock shows a few more marks and depressions, and there is some rubbed paint on the left side of the buttstock at the buttplate. The wood is untouched, and fits very well. The LOP measures 13″. The stocks rate in about Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: Blue
Finish Originality: Factory Original – Guaranteed
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is some very difficult to remove fouling, but no pitting or erosion.
Overall Condition: This rife retains about 95%+ of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows a bit of wear to the barrel bands and a spot or two of frosting on the right side of the frame. The finish is still intact where this frosting is, and even knowing it is there, it is hard to see. There is a very faint rub from the saddle ring, almost no muzzle or edge wear and no pitting or erosion. This is a pristine rifle. The Screw heads are sharp and many are unturned. The markings are crisp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None
Our Assessment: The Winchester 1894 is probably the most recognizable rifle design in the world. Born of John Moses Browning’s design genius, it enabled Winchester to manufacture a light, handy rifle which could still chamber a powerful round. Millions of these rifles have been produced, and this one was made in 1926, when the firearms manufacturers were at the height of their quality. This is about the best 1894 SRC you will be able to find, even better in .32 WS. This one is a collector’s dream.
