Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “SAI, Trussbille, Al STEYR SSG04” and “308 Win. / ZWW” with three proofs at the chamber”. The left side of the receiver is marekd “3030726 / ZWW” with two proofs at the front and with the Steyr logo and “STEYR MANNLICHER AUSTRIA” in the middle. The top of the bolt is marked “1004A”.

Barrel Length: 24″

Sights / Optics: This rifle has a picatinny rail mounted to the top of the receiver which is marked “20MOA” at the front on the top. There is no provision for iron sights.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is black synthetic with an adjustable cheekpiece and buttplate. Sling studs are mounted at the toe and on the bottom-front of the forend with a Harris Series S Model L 9-12″ bipod attached to the front stud. There is a light scuff at the top-rear corner of the right side of the magazine well and the cheekpiece has a small scuff in the front edge from bolt removal. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures “13 3/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is no notable wear or damage with only very light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The two-stage trigger has a light, smooth takeup followed by a crisp break. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the installed Harris bipod and its packaging in Excellent condition, a black hard case marked with the Steyr Mannlicher logo in Excellent condition, QD sling swivels in Excellent condition, and an assortment of factory paperwork including manual as well as a total of three 10-round magazines in Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: This is a really nicely set-up precision rifle, and in wonderful condition. Given the condition of the bolt and bore, it is unlikely this rifle was fired much if at all since it left the factory. Chambered in .308 Winchester, it ought to be easy to find a variety of ammunition and will be less expensive to feed than many rifles. The safety is interesting in that it is a roller with three positions, fire, safe with bolt operational and locked which does not allow the bolt to be cycled. In the locked position, the bolt can also be pushed down against the stock which locks the firing pin and allows for safe transport with a chambered round. The magazines are also two-stage and can be inserted to the first stop for single-loading or seated all the way for loading out of the magazine. This feature-rich rifle is in Excellent condition and promises to be a great precision shooter. Please see our photos and good luck!
