Barrel Length: 7 1/2″
Sights / Optics: This revolver is mounted with standard fixed SAA sights.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two piece oil finished wood. The inside of the left grip panel is marked “180 22”. The grips show no wear or marks, though a just a bit rough to the touch. The grips rate in about Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: Nickel
Finish Originality: Factory Original
Bore Condition: The bore is unfired. We did not want to cock the hammer or remove the cylinder to more carefully describe, but the revolver is unfired and the bore looks mint…
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 99% of its metal finish, and is unfired and apparently even unturned after leaving the factory. The only imperfections worthy of mention are some “dulling” of the finish on the right side and top of the barrel at the ejector rod housing screw. Perhaps this was some sort of Lock-Tite that spilled (?). There is a nearly invisible drag line, probably from factory test firing and fitting. This revolver spent its life in the case and looks like it did… The Screw heads are unturned, except for the grip screw, which shows wear. The markings are crisp. Overall, this revolver rates in about Excellent and ANIB condition.
Mechanics: The action should functions correctly, though we have not cocked or fired this revolver to confirm its functioning.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in its original colt Custom Shop leather case. The case is sound, inside and out, and looks as sharp as the pistol. A Colt display card, reading “From The colt custom Shop” is included with the box.
Our Assessment: After a few years of somewhat stagnant prices on the collectible Colt SAA’s, they have finally come back and this one should be on the front line of that appreciation. This is one of the rarest and best guns you could find . The Single Action Army is recognizable everywhere, and is seen as a better investment than the stock market these days. There are few guns more collectible than an in-the-box LNIB Colt Single Action Army, but a FACTORY EBNGRAVED, in-the-box, ANIB Colt single Action Army would be one of the few guns on that list.
