Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “THE MARLIN FIREARMS CO. NORTH HAVEN, CT. U.S.A. / MODEL 45 — MICRO-GROOVE BARREL — CAL. 45 AUTO”. The left side of the receiver is marked “09601076”. The right side of the barrel is marked with Marlin’s two-line warning.

Barrel Length: 16 ½”

Sights / Optics: This rifle is mounted with a flat topped “U” notched rear elevator sight dovetailed into the barrel and a hooded post type high visibility red plastic sight dovetailed into a serrated ramped base screwed to the barrel. The top of the receiver is drilled, tapped and filled for scope mounts. The top of the receiver has a black matte finish to reduce glare.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece birch with a dark brown finish, smooth pistol grip and a red solid rubber recoil pad marked with a circled “Marlin Cowboy” logo. black plastic checkered buttplate marked “Marlin”. There is a small ding on both sides of the stock at the receiver, several very light marks, and what appears to be thinning on the bottom edge of the grip. The LOP measures 14” from the front of the trigger to the back of the recoil pad. The recoil pad shows light wear around its mounting screw holes, and is in about Fine Plus condition. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Type of Finish: The barrel and the sides of the receiver are blued. The top of the receiver has a black matte finish and the trigger guard and magazine shroud are black synthetic.

Finish Originality: All Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the micro-groove rifling is sharp. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is a light mark in the upper edge of the left shoulder of the receiver and several tiny spots of surface frosting on the left side of the receiver. The screw heads are sharp and the markings are crisp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The action locks back after the last shot. With the magazine removed, the action can be locked back by pushing up in the rear button on the left side of the magazine shroud while the charging handle is held back. There is a safety at the front of the trigger guard. Also, with the magazine removed, the rifle will not fire. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes a total of one 7 round stainless steel magazine. The floorplate is marked “MARLIN / CAL .45 AUTO”. The magazine shows minimal wear and is in Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: This is a Marlin Model 45 Carbine. It is a semi-auto rifle with a 16 ½” barrel chambered in .45 ACP, and uses standard 1911 7 round magazines. This rifle is in great condition with only a few light marks, and has a bright bore with sharp micro-groove rifling. This lightweight rifle would be great for home protection or carrying around in the field all day after varmints. It ought to work great when pig hunting, as you really need a fast handling quick shooting rifle for those running devils. With as little use as it has seen, it is sure to have many years of useful life ahead of it.
