Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered wood. The checkering has become smooth. The lower third of the left grip panel has many gouges and is nearly smooth at the bottom. However, there are no cracks. These gouges look like they were from some type of holster wear. The grips rate in about Fair plus overall condition. The inside of the grip panels are unmarked.

Finish Originality: All Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp and deep. There is minor erosion in the flats. This is a very good shootable bore.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 70% of its metal finish. The high surfaces and the external edges show wear and finish loss especially on the side plate. There is light surface erosion and pitting on the takedown lever and the sideplate. There is thinning and finish loss along with some surface pitting on the barrel, mostly on the right side. The front and rear grips straps are brown, with light surface erosion. The Screw heads are sharp and undamaged. The markings are mostly clear but the sideplate and bottom of barrel are worn and difficult to read. Overall, this pistol rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this pistol. The magazine is unmarked but with a brass base. The brass is aged and the body of the magazine is in very good condition. We have no information on this magazine.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: One magazine is provided.
Our Assessment: This is a righteous old artillery Luger. From “Luger variations” by H.E. Jones, page 137 “…this model is also known as the long barrel P.08. A very popular pistol among the shooters and is second to none in long range accuracy. These pistols were issued to heavy artillery and machine gun crews”. There is a note that some may have been issued to boat crews. This is a very good example of this important Luger, and will add to any collection.
