The left side of the frame is marked “USC 404”. The grips are US treasury logo medallions. The magazine is marked “COLT / 45 AUTO”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade affixed to the slide. The rear sight is a “u” notch dovetailed in the top of the slide.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are smooth wood with US Treasury Department medallions. The gun does not appear to have been handled much. The grips rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish is the loss from operational wear to the barrel. There is some finish loss on the bushing and the slide on the left side. There is old grease in the protected areas. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: A colt factory box, there is no end label, it appears to have been removed previously. There is a Department of the Treasury U.S. Customs tie clip and Special Agent pin as pictured. The pin is numbered 404 and matches the left side of the frame.

Our Assessment: This is a special limited production Colt to commemorate the US Department of the Treasury Special Agents. We have never seen one of these before. There was little information available on Colt’s website about these autos. We know that the custom shop would do special order guns and limited runs for departments, we have seen our share of LAPD and San Diego Series 70’s. What is nice about this pistol is the accessory tie clip and pin adding to the package.
