Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “COOPER FIREARMS OF MONTANA, INC., STEVENSVILLE, MT USA” and at the receiver with “17 HMR”. The left side of the receiver’s chamber ring is marked “HMR 707”. The left side of the receiver is marked “Cooper Arms Model 57-M”. The underside of the bolt handle is marked “H / 707”.

Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. There are two scope mount bases mounted on the top of the receiver.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one piece checkered walnut with a pistol grip, matte black steel grip cap, a thin solid black rubber recoil pad with a basketweave finish on its rear face and sling swivel studs mounted in the belly and underside of the forend. There are two bruises in the belly of the stock, a few very light marks on the right side of the forend just behind the checkering, and a few light scratches on the left side of the forend below the receiver’s chamber ring. The checkering is sharp and without mars. The LOP measures 13 ¾” from the front of the trigger to the back of the recoil pad, which is hard, with very little give on its edges, which is probably the way it came from the factory. There are no mars in the basketweave rear surface. The pad is in about Excellent condition, as is the stock.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. There are several tiny light marks scattered over the front half of the barrel, and two small marks through the finish in the area of the markings in the left side of the barrel. There are also a few very light marks in the top surfaces of the scope mounts. The screw heads are sharp, but show marks from a screwdriver. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. There is a safety mounted on the right side of the upper tang and a bolt release mounted on the left side of the receiver. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes in its factory box with a total of 3 blued steel magazines with matte black floorplates. The box consists of a brown cardboard sleeve marked “Cooper Arms” on the top and a white Styrofoam inner box with lid. The bottom half of the box is fitted for this rifle, with a separate area for the bolt and another for the magazines. The box shows only a few light handling marks on the outside and minimal wear on the inside. The box is in about Excellent condition. The magazines show minimal wear and are also in Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: This is a Cooper Firearms Model 57-M Classic bolt action rifle chambered in .17 HMR with a 22” barrel. The rifle has a matte black finish and the stock is a one piece checkered walnut with pistol grip, steel grip cap and sling swivel studs. This rifle is in about Excellent condition with 99% of its original finish remaining. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The .17 HMR cartridge is a rimfire cartridge based on a necked-down .22 WMR. It is capable of propelling a 17 grain bullet to a sizzling 2550 fps. , which offers a flatter trajectory, longer range and faster flight time than its parent cartridge. This is a light rifle that won’t wear you don’t carrying it in the field all day and looks fantastic, so please see our pictures. This rifle is perfect for hunting rabbits and other small game, where you will be out hunting, and not just sitting in one spot all day trying to decimate the ground squirrel population, although it can certainly be used for that purpose as well. It comes with its factory box and a total of 3 magazines.
