Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “Python .357 / * 357 Magnum CTG *”. The left side of the frame is marked with the rampant Colt logo, and a Verified Proof mark and a “P”. The frame, under the arbor is marked “K97904”, as is the arbor. The right side of the barrel is marked “Colt’s Pt. FA. Mfg. Co. Hartford. Conn. U.S.A.”.

Sights / Optics: This revolver is mounted with a pinned front ramp sight and a windage and elevation adjustable rear sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered hard wood with Gold medallions. The grips show almost now wear and sharp checkering. The grips rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no evidence of erosion.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is almost no wear at all and this revolver has obviously spent a lot more time in the box than anywhere else. There is a slight cylinder drag line. The left side of the frame, around the Rampant logo shows some different sheens, apparently as it left the factory, as if sections of this area were almost finished to a different polish. We have seen this on several Pythons and had it explained once as difficulty in factory finishing because of the protrusions from the frame here. Most sellers would not even mention this, and again, our consignor states this is exactly as he purchased it new. The Screw heads are sharp, with the only one showing any wear at all being the trigger screw. The markings are crisp. Overall, this gun rates in about Excellent to near NIB condition.
Mechanics: This revolver functions correctly both single and double action. We have not fired it.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in its original box, with the end flap listing the gun by serial number. Also included are the Colt Companion, NRA Card, Congratulations Letter, Manual and Repair Stations Booklet. The box is a bit tattered, especially the outer sleeve, where two of the small tabs are missing from one end.
Our Assessment: The Colt Python is the staple of the industry; the Double Action Revolver that every other Double Action Revolver tries to be. That said, there is only one Colt Python, and if you’re reading this, you understand… This one is in near new condition and is Stainless, which has become especially collectible in recent years. This revolver will serve your collecting / shooting purposes exceedingly well.
