Our Assessment: The best gun ever made is the Colt 1911, with some of the most collectible being the Pre-Series 70 1911’s in 38 Super. That’s what we have here! This is a Pre-70 series Colt 1911 with original style sights, safety slide lock, grip safety, hammer and trigger. The finish is original and sharp. The .38 Super was developed during the Prohibition era, to add power to the 1911 platform and penetrate armor. It is also very popular in Mexico where military calibers are not allowed. The magazine capacity is 9 rounds. This pistol would make a great addition to your Colt collection, a powerful self defense gun, or the basic platform for IDPA & / or USPSA competition. While this gun will last the rest of your lifetime, and serve you well as a shooter, I ask that you just swap the grips and put it in the collection. This is a nice one.
