Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. Only the faintest marks are visible on the exterior surfaces. Only a few areas of the internals show operational wear. This pistol looks to have been used infrequently outside of factory testing and was well taken care of in the interim. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. This pistol features a multi-lug rotating bolt, similar to the AR-15 design. The slide has nominal play to the frame. The springs are extremely strong, the slide release is heavy, we suspect from infrequent use. The barrel is removable with a right side mounted lever. The trigger pull has some grain and take up before a clean break. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is the original cardboard outer sleeve, which reflects the configuration and serial number of the pistol. The sleeve has some scuffing and wrinkling on the edges, in Fine condition, its interior foam inserts are provided, showing compression marks and extremely small losses, rating in Fine condition. The pistol’s factory plastic bag, hang tag, owner’s manual, 1998 product catalog, tool, serialized registration card and marketing inserts are provided as photographed, in Excellent condition.
Our Assessment: How does one tame the powerful recoil of .357 Magnum in a handgun? Starting with a 4lb 8oz platform ain’t a bad start; throw in a rotating bolt and powerful springs and you’ve done just about everything you can. This is a Mark 19 Desert Eagle, made in the grand ‘ol USA by Magnum Research. The pistol is iconic, having been in quite a few popular movies with well deserved shock value. This chromed version has a 6” removable barrel and comes with an 8-round magazine. The top of the barrel is slotted for red dot or scope ring attachments (not included), making it a leap and bound more versatile than its predecessors. The original factory box, paperwork and other goodies are also included making this a nice find for DE collectors and for those who want to defend their home without even firing a shot. This thing sounds like a shotgun when chambering a round, the after affect is just as intense. The pistol looks to have seen limited use and was well taken care of in the interim. Please see our pictures and good luck.
