Bore Condition: The bore is dark by design and the rifling is sharply defined and deep; there is little evidence of this rifle having been fired outside of factory testing. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows a few light scuff marks that have not penetrated the finish, most likely having been incurred during storage; the rifle look to have been shot very seldom, if at all, outside of the factory and was well taken care of in the interim. There is a small amount of wear on the right upper part of the trigger as photographed. The screw heads are sharp and appear to be un-turned. The markings are crisp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The rifle features a tang mounted safety and rebounding hammer. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is an un-serialized but correct factory two piece cardboard box, showing exterior scuff marks; there is some edge roughing and a few deeper marks as photographed; the box is in Fine condition. The inside of the box has its molded foam insert and thin upper foam lid, which shows light compression and oil staining; also included is the rifle’s plastic bag, both rating in Fine condition. A factory owner’s manual is also included with scuff marks, in Fine Plus condition.

Our Assessment: This is a Winchester Model 1895 Limited Edition High Grade rifle with Number 3 engraving, gold inlay, beautifully polished blued components and spectacular deluxe checkered walnut stocks. There are only a few light marks to speak of on the wood and metal surfaces, the bore has deep, sharp rifling and very little evidence of use, if any outside of factory testing. The Model 1895 was Browning’s last lever action design and Winchester’s first fixed box magazine rifle, which allowed use of Spitzer (pointed) ammunition. The platform was adopted by Theodore Roosevelt and his men during the Spanish-American war and was so beloved by the President that he used it on hunting excursions for many years. This rifle was part of a limited 4,000 gun production run from 1995 to 1999 (for .30-06 variants) and comes with an un-serialized but correct factory box, owner’s manual, foam liners and the rifle’s plastic bag. This is a rare opportunity for collectors to catch one of the finest rifles ever created, in Excellent condition. Please see our pictures and good luck!
