The factory blue plastic hard case has an end label sticker that reflects the model, barrel length, finish and serial number of this pistol.

Barrel Length: 5” with full length underlug and solid, serrated rib.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a high profile, 0.133” wide Patridge blade that is pinned fore to aft into a rise in the full length, serrated rib. The rear sight is a flat top, square notched leaf on a base that is micro-click adjustable for windage and elevation; the base is slotted into the drilled, tapped and screw filled top strap; the top of the base is serrated for glare reduction.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are rubber Hogue Monogrips that have pebbled flanks, finger grooves that cover the front strap of the grip frame and have S&W’s trademark logo in circle in the bordering smooth portions. The grips only show minor scuffs and light handling marks. There are no losses or cracks; the Monogrip rates in about Excellent condition.

Type of Finish: Matte Stainless Steel & Case Colored Hammer and Trigger.

Finish Originality: Factory Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is highly defined with scuff wear from normal use. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. There is a distinct drag line on the cylinder, there is some polishing to the matte finish from some wear on the top strap and front sight. There is a long thin scratch on the left side of the frame and polished scuff marks on the underside of the barrel lug and trigger guard. The firewall has a wear mark from the ejector rod and there is some minor flame cutting above the forcing cone on the inside of the top strap. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder timing is correct and all six chambers are stiff in full lockup. The double action pull is a bit staged with creep but the single action pull is light and breaks cleanly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is the revolver’s original blue factory plastic case with foam liners, three moon clips (to be used with .45 ACP), an owner’s manual and registration card. The box exhibits some handling and storage wear, the other accessory items are ‘like new’.

Our Assessment: What could be more practical than a revolver that shares the same cartridge as your auto pistol? This 625-4 Model of 1989 attracted a lot of attention from our staff with its Excellent metal condition and smooth lines. The lockup in each cylinder is tight, with correct timing and a very nice single action trigger pull. The Patridge front sight aligns quickly in conjunction with the micro-click adjustable rear sight. There is a long scratch on the right side of the frame with a drag mark on the cylinder and some wear associated with normal operation. About 97% of the finish remains, the bore is bright with sharp rifling, exhibiting scuff marks from use. This revolver takes moon clipped .45 ACP or .45 Auto Rimmed cartridges and should prove to be a quick shooter with the full length underlug and ergonomic, shock absorbing Hogue grips. The revolver comes with its original serialized factory hard plastic case, three moon clips and factory paperwork. Please see our photographs and good luck!
