Sights / Optics: The front sight is a ramped blade with a plastic insert pinned to the front of the ventilated rib. The rear sight is a white-outlined square notch adjustable for windage and elevation in a base pinned to the topstrap.
Grip Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered black rubber Pachmayr Presentation grips with gold-colored Colt medallions. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The grips rate in about excellent overall condition.

Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is mostly and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is some stubborn fouling. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 8 or 9 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is a thin, faint turn-line on the cylinder, not through the finish. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a more thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes in a serial-matching box with manual.
Our Assessment: In 1955, the United States launched the first nuclear-powered submarine, the NATO exercise “Carte Blanche” took place in Western Europe, and Colt began shipping the finest precision combat and target revolver ever made. The Colt Python revolvers are no longer being made like the originals, so the price for these fantastic weapons are just going to continue to appreciate. This beautiful example is from 1981 with a Coltguard e Nickel finish. This revolver is TRIPLE Rare; Nickel finish, 2.5″ barrel and 99% original condition. This a WOW! And would make a wonderful addition to any Colt collection!
