Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade with a serrated rear face that is fixed to the slide above the muzzle. The rear sight is a square notch that is dovetailed to the top rear of the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered wood featuring gold-colored Colt medallions. The grips show no notable wear or damage, just light handling and storage marks. The checkering is sharp. The grips are in Excellent overall condition.

Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright, the rifling is sharp. There is a bit of persistent fouling but no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, this bore rates a 9 or 10 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows only some superficial scuffs and handling marks scattered throughout. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. We have cleaned this firearm and performed a mechanic’s check but expect many will want to clean the firearm again depending on their standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This handgun comes with a Colt cardboard box with one side where the label would be is missing, some Colt factory handout papers and one (1) 9-round magazine with intact feed lips and a strong follower spring.
Our Assessment: The 1911 is one of the best pistols ever designed, seeing use in the US Military for the better part of a century and dominating pistol shooting sports for decades. This is a Colt MK IV Series ’70 Government Model from 1978. The descendent of the original Model of 1911, it has updates of the 1911-A1 as well as a collet-style bushing to improve accuracy.
