Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed to a hooded, textured, ramped base fixed to the front of the barrel. The rear of the barrel is installed a Winchester 70B sight which has two “V” notches mounted to the base, able to be folded to present either the lower or the higher notch. The top of the receiver is installed with a pair of bases. The left-rear of the receiver is drilled, tapped and filled for a receiver sight (none present).
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one-piece checkered walnut with a pistol grip, monte-carlo comb, orange rubber Winchester buttpad and sling swivels front and rear. There are a few compressions and minor marks. There are some scattered light handling marks. The checkering is sharp. The LOP measures 13 1/2? from the front of the trigger to the back of the pad. The pad shows light wear and discoloration, having hardened slightly with age. Overall, the stock is in Fine Plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In my opinion, this bore rates 10 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. The bolt is serial matching. There is some finish wear on some of the edges, most noticeable at the muzzle. There are a few little infrequent marks through the finish, most noticeable on the bottom metal assembly. There is operational wear including finsih wear on the bolt knob. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 70 is an iconic American sporting rifle that has been a staple of hunters for more than 80 years; reliable, robust, and accurate, it is one of the benchmarks by which all bolt action rifles are measured. It has more than earned its nickname of “The Riflemans Rifle“, a true icon. This is a vintage pre-1964 This is a Winchester Model 70 Magnum made in 1954 and chambered in the .375 Holland & Holland Magnum cartridge. The rifle is in about Excellent condition with about 97% of its finish, light wear in the stock and a great bore. The .375 H&H is a belted magnum cartridge suitable for North American big game animals and even some of the thinner skinned game animals of Africa. This is a beautiful rifle in a great hunting cartridge that has years of hunting use left in it. That said, it’s also a desirable pre-64 Winchester Model 70 with an uncommon factory rear sight and would make a great addition to a collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
