Our Assessment: The Remington 700 needs no introduction, it has been one of the most popular bolt action rifles in America for decades, seeing use in target shooting, hunting, and in law enforcement. Remington had been producing sporting rifles for decades, but their Post-WWI Model 30 Sporter took too much time and money to make, plus it required too much milling. After WWII they designed the Model 721 which used a receiver made of bar stock, meaning it could be turned on a lathe, cutting production time and cost. The basic design of the 721 went through further developments under the direction of engineer Mike Walker, and Remington went on to produce the Model 722 and Model 725, and finally, in 1962, the Model 700 was born. With the design, Walker desired to increase accuracy over previous designs so tight bore & chamber tolerances, a short leade, and fast lock time were used. Since its inception in 1962, it has been produced in just about any caliber and configuration you could think of. If it hasn’t there are custom parts and gunsmiths out there to get it exactly how you like. The 700 has been used by police and militaries alike, and this custom build by G.A. Precision has clear influence from the United States Mk13 Mod 7 Sniper weapons system.

The rifle is custom built by GA Precision, who started with a Remington Model 700 receiver which got trued and blueprinted. Then a Bartlein 22 inch MTU heavy contour barrel is installed with 5/8×24 threads to install your favorite accessories; it is currently installed with a custom four port muzzle brake. The barreled action sits in an Accuracy International AX chassis, the best in the business. The previous owner really went all out, aside from sending to G.A. and having Accuracy International parts installed, he also installed an Atlas bipod and topped the rail with a premium Schmidt & Bender scope. The trigger is a match grade trigger that provides a nice pull every time.

When you get a G.A. Precision, you are truly getting the best. G.A. Precision was founded by George Gardner as a means of building competition rifles for local highpower and long range shooters. G.A Precision knows how to build a rifle, they currently build rifles for a multitude of police agencies, to include: FBI SWAT, FBI HRT Team Quantico, ATF SRT, Chicago P.D. SWAT and many more. Mr. Reid knows a thing about precision, in fact so much that he went on to be an armorer at PWS Marine Sniper School in Quantico. All of these features combined with G.A. Precisions expertise make for an impressive rifle that promises to be a tack driver.
